We’ve all experienced it, at any age. It’s frustrating and annoying.
You find yourself having this battle with just about anyone of the opposite sex.
A man does it with a woman and a woman does it with a man.
No matter what is being said a man feels like he is always right…..maybe a man coined the term double standard too? Since they like living it so much!
Lol seriously though. I can’t even begin to tell you the many times I’ve been in arguments such as
Man: She slept with the homie, she’s a hoe, slut, thot, etc
Me: And guys do it too! They are thots and sluts too.
Man: Chill that’s not the same thing. We don’t get called those names…or we do it different
……I could continue but you get the point. Men don’t get called the names they created for women because they want to be dominant but GUYS LISTEN UP! You are those names too if you proceed with the same actions. #JustSaying
I DON’T understand how most people can be one sided on certain situations. If it hurts you to be called a name, then don’t call anyone else it! Simple!
Double Standards come in many shapes, styles and forms.
In relationships, there should be no need because the two of you become one. However, it cannot be stopped unless society stops it altogether so it continues! It shouldn’t happen at all!
Here’s a tip!
For example, SEX numbers…lalala everyone’s favorite discussion. It is debated on social media, on TV shows like Guy Code, amongst friends, etc
In relationships only you two can decide whether or not you care about how many people the other slept with! It’s your boyfriend/girlfriend. Don’t try to add numbers by 2 or 12 because not every woman lies like that and neither does guys.
Does it really matter? You sleep with them anyway!
Next……Dating sites.
If you create one and you’re single, then cool.
If you create one and you’re working things out with someone or you are considering it, well then how do you think you look? How can he/she take you seriously when you are doing the opposite!
Then he/she gets an online dating site too and you catch a ‘tude about it?
Not only are you living the double standard life but you are being VERYYYYY hypocritical!
If it is established that no relationship is moving between y’all then there are no boundaries that says he/she can’t join too. Even if it’s to make a new friend! It’s not tit for tat if you wanna see what’s out there.
Why should they be stuck waiting for you while you are being adventurous and trying to find someone else. It may not be your motive at first, but it might happen. (Pssttt, it’s a dating site for a reason. Coffee shops and work places are for friends)

Nothing says double standard than who can be friends with who.
Boy Meets World is the perfect example! So is Saved By The Bell but look out for the 90s post for that! Lol Shawn, Topanga, Cory and Eric were great friends. Even though Cory and Topanga and Cory got together and married and later has kids (Girl Meets World), at least she didn’t sleep with Shawn or Eric. Together all of them were great friends and there was also Angela.
Anywho……men and women CAN be friends. I have plenty male friends who are just friends. Friend zoned for life and never leaving. lol
For the battle to be male and female can’t be friends and it is everlasting, why would anyone say such a thing? You do go through the stages of friendship sometimes to get to sex.
If a woman has a guy friend, the boyfriend thinks she’s sleeping with him…same if she has more than one. Wake up homie! Some of these guys are really Just A Friend, no pun intended. 😛
A woman will look at a guy having a female friend as just that, a friend….usually. It depends on his actions.
It seriously annoys me. To survive in the world, men and women have to communicate!
When is this world going to stop the life of “You can’t do that because….” or “Only we can do that”
Double standards happen for races, teachers, students, friends, celebrities, sports, and more.
Double standards are even the simple things we experience like being topless, women as bad drivers (some men are bad drivers too!)
Double standards are as equal as hypocrites.
All I do is keep it real! I just had to let it be said. I’m sure you are sick of them too. If you know of any more, you can share them with me!
Shade But No Shade 
Hey Ms. Shade, I thought this blog really spoke to me, as I’m a man who often experiences heavy amounts of Double Standards daily; but you’re right it does go both ways. I think the Double Standards in today’s society is just one of the many tell-tell ways that men and women still don’t fully understand each other; and for lack of better communication (especially with today’s youth) is one of the main reasons men and women have problems with each other. My wife and I have worked hard over the past ten years to try to change society’s way of thinking when it comes to men and women, but even we’re not perfect. Communication is the key to happiness, it’s just many of us don’t know it. Anyway I thought this article was great. I loved it! Keep them coming. 😉
